Charities
We at Miss University strongly believe in giving and would like to take a lead role on Philanthropy. Not only will we work with some of the following organisations by providing financial aid but also through a minimum commitment to deliver the following;
2. Act as ambassador to the younger generation and raise awareness of a number of topical issues/problems
faced by Local Authorities and the Police.
3. Create awareness campaigns on social networking site and on-line portals.

Collaboration – Skilled Students & The Voluntary Sector
The collaboration between University students and voluntary organisations can become a growing trend of partnerships, especially in a time of high unemployment and lack of policy in a highly stigmatised role. It could foster a prime opportunity to train unemployed young people and skilled students for jobs in fields including but not limited to: health care, auto repair, freight, transportation, manufacturing and retail to mention just some. Since the national recession has intensified, such programmes could experience a surge in interest among University students seeking training and job placements.
We are trying to bridge the gap between young people and the voluntary sector. Over the last 5 years, the number of young people volunteering their time has steadily declined. Our aim is to remove the societal stigma associated with volunteering and helping to raise the profile of a number of key organisations who may not have huge marketing budgets to seek support or funding. The process will have dual benefits both for the organisations and the students through;
Strengthened Résumés
The partnerships can help charities serve better and more economically, whilst gaining access to a skilled force of young professional. Philanthropic credentials and voluntary sector experience can make the résumés of participants more appealing than of those of students who do nothing.
Reciprocal Relationships
Students who are unprepared for the real world — or graduates who squeak by with less than expected results can spend some time working with these organisations gaining valuable training whilst providing a much needed service.
Shepherding Students
While Universities offer educational opportunities for students, charities can provide the intensive support needed by students who have a lack of training and industry specific experience. Such assistance can include career and health counselling, job referrals and vouchers to pay for transportation.
Miss University will provide in 2009 over 3500+ charity gift days across Great Britain. We would like to take this opportunity to ask more charities and organisations to get involved, we already have some 60 charities who have accepted to work with us in 2009, however, in creating a benevolent community of students we are only at the foot of the mountain!
