National Event Prizes

We are proud to announce some of the best prizes that any pageant can offer, in keeping with our company ethos and firm belief of giving back to the community – our National lucky winner will be presented with:

1st Prize

· The crown Miss University World 2009
· Act as an ambassador for Miss University on all official invites
· All books in the following academic year paid for &
· A 6 week trip – where the lucky winner will spend an all expense paid trip visiting:

-   Africa for 2 weeks where she will work with various charities and gain valuable experience in her field of study
-   India for 2 weeks where she will work with a company in her field of study gaining International work experience and     references
-   China for 2 weeks where she will spend her time exploring possibilities of bridging cultural and economical gaps with the     world’s fastest growing economy

 

1st Runner Up

· Act as an ambassador for Miss University on all official invites
· Student accommodation expenses for the following year paid for (max of £2500)
· A weekend break away for two

 

2nd Runner Up

· Act as an ambassador for Miss University on all official invites
· All books in the following academic year paid for
· A weekend break away for two

 

Judging

The National Event

The aim of the event is to seek the most talented all round student, hence, the judging of the National Event will be based on the following: 20% - All 150 Wining participants must work with a charity local to their University for three days, the Charity will be asked to fill out a scorecard converting points to percentages. 20% - One aim of the event is to reduce Crime on the streets and raise safety awareness, hence, all participants must find innovative ideas to aid Local Authorities, National Campaigns and the Police Department in combating and raising awareness of the following;

-   Terrorism and the influence it has on the young and impressionable
-   Drastic rises in Gun/Knife crime and how younger peer pressure from University students around the country could help     make the street image ‘cool’ without using knives/guns
-   Rise in use of drugs by young people and help elaborate the consequences of long-term use
-   Raise awareness on sexual health and the spread of STD’s
-   Young people and Alcohol – How street/binge drinking is perceived
-   Drug use and abuse – Highlight dependency/withdrawal issues
-   Mental well-being 
-   Encourage academic studies and the benefits they provide
-   Weight issues - encourage healthy eating and illustrate the dangers of being a size zero
-   Help raise self-esteem – through mentoring and leading by example
-   Aid better managed conflict resolution on streets, especially within the ethnic minorities
-   Gang culture and its effects on peoples future
-   Lack of social skills in impoverished regions

10% - It is imperative that the winning contestant is a true reflection of Beauty and Brains, as we want them to be act as ambassadors to the younger population. Hence, 10% will be judged on the participants answer to an on-stage question.

50% - We will allocate the remainder of the point to the on-stage presence of the participant.


The National Event

The regional events will be judged slightly differently. The following criteria will apply ;
20% - On stage question
50% - On-stage presence
30% - Each participant will have to fill out a commitment form for something they will provide to their University
Environment by a minimum of 1 gift day to the University or a local charity.

Each Regional event will consist of three rounds, please note, due to our strong belief in promoting equality and decency we have no swimsuit round.

The regional themes for 2009/10 will be:
Round 1; Summer Mania & Introductions
Round 2; Business & Corporate & Questions

Round 3; Evening Wear & Questions
